As the System Architect for the Platform functional area of the EXP.O NOW product, you will support solution development by providing, communicating, and evolving the broader technology and architectural view of the solution. The Platform functional area is responsible for delivering functionality needed by all areas of the system, such as authentication/authorization and user preferences, and the System Architect plays a key leadership role in that delivery. Through the solution development process, you will create value for our customers and contribute to the success of the EXP.O NOW product.
The System Architect is responsible for driving architectural initiatives for the platform infrastructure of EXP.O NOW. They provide guidance and are responsible for aligning the technical work of their teams with the strategies of EXP.O NOW, the Customer Experience Portfolio, and the enterprise. They determine the primary components and subsystems, identify the interfaces and interactions between them, define Nonfunctional Requirements (NFRs), communicate the Solution Context and Solution Intent to team members and stakeholders, and work with stakeholders to help ensure fitness for purpose.
This position will report to the Senior Manager of EXP.O NOW and will work directly with development team members, program leadership, and product management, as well as stakeholders across the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with the EXP.O NOW, Portfolio, and Enterprise architects to contribute to, understand and support the strategic technical direction of the enterprise
Define key technical initiatives that support Lean Budgets via Enabler Epics
Support the Customer Experience Portfolio and EXP.O NOW strategies for building and maintaining the architectural runway
Understand and communicate Strategic Themes and other key business drivers for architecture to technical and nontechnical stakeholders
Coach developers and identify training opportunities, fostering common best practices
Promote Continuous Delivery Pipeline and DevOps capabilities
Work with the teams to identify high priority technical work leading to improved productivity and team satisfaction
Create and implement strategies for technology adoption within the Portfolio
Ensure the availability, security and performance of Portfolio systems
Support Systems Development Lifecycle and Software Acquisition Lifecycle processes
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Personal and professional alignment with Expeditors culture and ten critical success factors
Proven experience as a logistics and technology oriented leader
Strong leadership, communication, and execution capabilities
Experienced problem solver, strong collaborator and able to provide clarity around complex topics
Experience with DevSecOps, Lean, Agile, and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
Assertive personality, interpersonal, action, and outcome driven leadership
Ability to actively inspire, coach, mentor, and motivate
Ability to promote autonomy, mastery and purpose, through empowerment and creating leaders
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with customer facing application design and development, including knowledge of related industry best practices
Global logistics/Supply chain business knowledge
Experience in a technical role such as systems/data/business analysis, project management, or software development
