Expeditors Developer II (Java) - EXP.O Order Management, IS Operational Experience in Seattle, Washington

As part of Operational Experience IS Portfolio, the Order Management group is responsible for developing core business applications that enable relentless management of customer order data to achieve superior supply chain execution leading to positive results for Expeditors and our customers.  These systems enable our world-wide network to deliver a supply chain execution model in sync with our customers’ order processes and network design. The basis of the service is to receive customer orders electronically and then manage and report upon the milestones presented on the orders. Integration in our global operating system of our customer’s order details with the shipment is standard. By utilizing Order Management Services, customers recognize tailored supply chain solutions regardless of sourcing location.

As a Java Developer, you will join a diverse and dynamic agile project team to expand, enhance, and maintain this critical system. This project is high-visibility. Collaboration is a must in this role. We work closely with the business to better understand the needs of our customers and employees.

This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Object-oriented analysis and design

  • Object-oriented programming and component-based development with Java

  • Experience with SQL and relational database design/development

  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks

  • Understanding of Agile software development methodologies

  • Experience writing unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end

  • At least 2 years of professional software development experience

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Maven, Junit, Spring Boot, Hibernate/JPA, and IntelliJ IDE

  • Experience with Angular, TypeScript, RxJS, NGRX, and Karma/Jasmine Testing

  • Operating systems include UNIX, Linux, Windows

  • Experience with Event Driven Architecture, Domain Driven Design, CQRS

  • Experience with Distributed Systems, REST API design, and Apache Kafka

  • BS in Computer Science or comparable work

  • Drives project technical direction & decisions

  • Ability to design & develop complex technical solutions

  • Ensures maintainability & testability of code

  • Applies advanced design & development techniques

  • Communicates technical details to both technical & non-technical stakeholders

  • Produces practical solutions

  • Interest in understanding business needs

  • Understands data, application, & technology architectures

  • Abreast of new technologies & development strategies

  • Focuses on improving quality & performance

  • Coaches & mentors other developers

  • Identifies opportunities & mitigates technical risks

Expected base salary:  $88,000 to $145,000
