Expeditors Employee Relations & Benefits Specialist – HR Compliance in Seattle, Washington

Expeditors, a leader in global logistics, is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with a willingness to learn a variety of human resource functions. The position includes exposure to a wide range of compliance related tasks and provides administrative support to the corporate Employee Relations department, supporting over 6,400 U.S. employees. A successful candidate will be comfortable working in a team environment, have exceptional interpersonal, communication and customer service skills, superior attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple on-going projects.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Government Compliance:

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment and labor laws and regulations.

  • Conduct preliminary research on employee-related legislative and regulatory changes and analyze their impact on the organization.

  • Manage Form I-9 and E-Verify compliance obligations for all U.S. new employees.

  • Ensure employment eligibility reverifications are completed timely and in compliance with USCIS requirements.

  • Audit district USCIS, Form I-9 and E-Verify compliance efforts.

  • Maintain annual calendar of reporting events with timelines to meet critical filing requirement deadlines.

  • Manage Federal/State reporting, including Equal Employment Opportunity, VETS-4212, Affirmative Action Plans, Customs and other government and state report requirements.

  • Assist with efforts to ensure compliance with Federal Contractor requirements.

  • Respond to unemployment claims.

  • Identify and implement solutions that streamline processes to promote government compliance.

  • Providing HR Service:

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of Company policies and procedures.

  • Manage the Corporate Employee Relations Team’s general inbox, responding to general questions and policy matters.

  • Advise employees, managers, and District Employee Relations Coordinators on Expeditors’ U.S. leave of absence programs in a well-reasoned and supportive manner.

  • Administer employee relocations.

  • Responsible for accurate recordkeeping, including responding to file and subpoena requests.

  • Communicate regularly with a network of District Employee Relations Coordinators across the U.S. on HR Service and Compliance topics.

  • Support the development of trainings, resources, and communications in areas of expertise.

  • Provide essential support for on-going compliance projects.

  • Provide support to all other human resource functions as needed.

  • Work closely with Corporate Employee Relations & Benefits team on a variety of tasks.

  • Meet Expeditors’ annual training requirements.

To be immediately considered for this opportunity, the following are needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Preferred 0-2 years’ experience in a human resource role.

  • Demonstrated interest in human resources and employment law compliance.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with employees and management to ensure effective support on human resource issues.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and a critical eye.

  • Organizational skills that result in consistent volume and quality of output.

PAY AND BENEFITS:

Non-Exempt Annual Salary: $56,000 - $60,000 (DOE)
